The cost of a windscreen replacement will depend on the type of windscreen being replaced. Basic windscreens typically cost £120 including labour. If your car has a specialist windscreen, such as a heated windscreen, this will be reflected in the price.

On average, our engineers repair chipped windscreens within 30-40 minutes.

The cost of a chipped windscreen repair is £45 + VAT.

A windscreen replacement will typically take 60 minutes or less to complete. However, it is recommended that your car not be driven for 2 hours after the windscreen has been replaced. If you do not urgently need to drive your car, we recommend leaving the windscreen for longer. This is especially true of rear windscreens.

There are very specific guidelines as to whether a windscreen chip will make your car fail its MOT. The maximum size chip within the driver’s line of vision is 10mm.

The driver’s line of vision is considered to be a strip located above the steering wheel that is 290mm wide and stretches the length of the windscreen. If your chip is outside of this zone it has to be 40mm in size before it will cause an MOT failure.

This is a rarity, but if you are supplying your own windscreen glass, we can fit it for you as long as it is the correct specification for your vehicle.

In most cases, windscreen repair or replacement does not affect your no claims bonus. Whenever it is safe to do so, we will always repair a windscreen, rather than replace it entirely. This is so that - where relevant - your excess is as small as possible and has the least impact on your car’s insurance.

All you will need is your certificate of motor insurance to show your Screen-Tec technician. Screen-Tec Windscreens will then do any necessary paperwork for you.

We deal directly with the biggest insurance providers so that your windscreen replacement or repair doesn’t affect your no claims bonus.

Depending on your insurer, typical excess is between £65 and £75.

We make life easy for our clients by offering a mobile service where we come to you. Wherever you are, at home or work, Screen-Tec can carry out windscreen repairs. Your car must be parked in a location where we have permission to work.

Yes. If you are parked at work while we carry out our repairs, you’ll need to secure permission for us to work in the car park first. This is rarely a problem. One exception is multi-storey car parks that are privately owned. In most cases we are not able to offer commercial services inside a multi-storey car park.
